Uses For PTFE Hose

PTFE smooth bore hose APPLICATIONS
Hot Runner System

PTFE smooth bore hose is normally used for general purpose application like hydraulics, as well as the specific applications which require for high temperature resistance, and high pressure resistance, like Aerospace industry and hot runner system(water hose, air hose, oil hose);

PTFE smooth bore hose APPLICATIONS 1
Automotive Lines

For AN series PTFE smooth liner hose, it can be used for automotive as brake & clutch lines, transmission cooler lines, gauge lines, power steering lines, turbocharger oil lines, fuel oil lines and etc;

PTFE smooth bore hose APPLICATIONS 2
Adhesive Dispensing Machines

Due to the PTFE’s non-viscosity, PTFE smooth bore hose also can be used in adhesive dispensing machines, hot melt adhesive dispensers;

PTFE smooth bore hose APPLICATIONS 3
Air Humidification System

PTFE’s aging resistance makes it the best choice for long-term use or outdoor all-whether use to maintain its stability, such as air humidification system and etc.

PTFE convoluted hose APPLICATIONS
Air Compressor

PTFE convoluted hose has excellent flexibility and kink resistance, which can be widely used in industries with high requirements for bending and frequent movement, like air compressor for bus, and HVAC system;

PTFE smooth bore inner & corrugated outer hose APPLICATIONS
Biopharmaceutical Industry

Combined the advantages of PTFE smooth bore hose (high flow rate, excellent cleanability and high pressure, easy to clean & crimp) and convoluted hose (outstanding flexibility and sufficiently bent), PTFE smooth bore inner and convoluted outer hose becomes a great ideal option for the applications with higher requirements, such as biopharmaceutical industry.

Review Of PTFE Hose Assemblies

PTFE Hose : The Ultimate Guide

Polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE for short, is one of the common names for Teflon. PTFE hose is used in stainless steel hose so the hose lasts much longer than rubber hose or rubber encased in stainless steel. At BESTEFLON PTFE Hose, we will closely partner with you and your team to fabricate the best solution for your specific application needs. Choosing the correct PTFE hose fabricator is paramount to achieving the best possible hose assembly for your most critical fluid transfer applications.

What Is Ptfe Hose?

PTFE Hose is a very versatile and durable alternative to rubber hose. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is used as a liner for stainless steel braided hose or rubber hose to increase temperature range compatibility, chemical resistance, flexibility and shock resistance.

Benefits of Using PTFE Hose

PTFE hose helps to prevent gas odors from permeating the hose itself. This type of hose resists all types of fluids and chemicals, including gas, ethanol, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid and antifreeze. Rubber doesn’t resist these fluids nearly as good as PTFE since the chemicals tend to break the rubber down.

Furthermore, PTFE has higher temperature tolerances than rubber does. Thus if the engine overheats, It has less chance of the heat damaging the hoses. In addition to the high heat tolerance of PTFE, it has a higher pressure rating than rubber.

PTFE Hose Pressure Rating

The pressure rating of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) hose may vary depending on the size and construction of the hose. Typically, they have a higher pressure rating than rubber hoses because they are able to handle a wider range of fluids and temperatures.

For example, 1/4″ PTFE hose has a maximum working pressure of 3,000 psi and 1/2″ PTFE hose has a maximum working pressure of 2,000 psi.

It is important to note that pressure ratings also depend on the fittings used with the PTFE hose. Always check with the manufacturer for specific pressure ratings and recommendations for your application.

Properties of PTFE Hose

Broad temperature range of -100°F to 500°F (-73°C to 260°C)

High operating pressure up to 6,160 psi

Excellent chemical compatibility with most acids, alcohols, detergents, and solvents. It is the most versatile thermoplastic hose in terms of chemical resistance available on the market right now

Lowest coefficient of friction of any known plastic hose. Its non-stick surface properties decrease the chances of pressure drops and deposit buildup

Durability. This hose is chemically inert, which means that it will not break down while in use or deteriorate in storage. It has an unlimited shelf life and its properties do not change with time.

Does Ptfe Hose Require Special Fittings

PTFE hose is too stiff for hose clamps. It won’t “crush” onto a fitting to create a good seal, like a conventional clamp. So, unique aluminum AN fittings must be used to secure the new hoses.

What Is Ptfe Hose Material?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is an engineered fluoropolymer. Outstanding resistance to chemicals is one of its primary attributes. A broad temperature range of -54°C to 260°C makes this hose material suitable for the majority of fluids and ambient temperature conditions found in most industries.

How is PTFE Manufactured?

The manufacturing of PTFE can be done in two ways.

Suspension:  This method polymerizes TFE in water, resulting in PTFE grains. The grains can be processed further to make pellets that can be molded.

Dispersion:  The resulting PTFE is a milky paste processed into a fine powder. In coating applications, both the paste and powder are used.

PTFE braided hose temp?

The fluoropolymer (PTFE) gives the hose its chemical resistance and is therefore virtually inert to all chemicals. The combination of the fiberglass outer braid and PTFE liner, make the hose essentially non-flammable. Superior chemical, temperature and flame resistance. Temperature: -65°F to 450°F.

Is Ptfe Hose Fuel Safe?

For hoses that need to be run inside the cabin, PTFE hoses are ideal, as fuel fumes will not permeate the hose walls.

Can You Use Gas With Ptfe Hose?

This type of hose resists all types of fluids and chemicals, including gas, ethanol, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid and antifreeze.
